Today, the former president Jimmy Carter came to my university, AU, to have a conversation with students and faculties.
Fortunatelly, we, the group of int'l students, who studied here for a year or semester, was invited to the reception, which was hold in advance to the conversation.
When he showed up the room, I was kind of excited and nervous, coz he might be the most famous person that I had ever met! Moreover, I weared weired T-shirt, which was applied to our group to represent "international feature" of AU. I definitely say, we quite standed out at that time, coz everybody but us weared formal dress or suites.
Anyway, we were intoduced to the president as int'l students in the program, which just started this year, and shook hands with him one by one. One of us even took picture of him while he shook hands with president! I'm envy of him...
When it came to my turn, the prsident ased me my home country, and I answered "Japan". That's it. I shook hands with him, and the prsident and we took a picture together.
In the conversation, he insisted the importance to offer the equal voting rights to the people in US, and the need that US became the country, which realized "peace" not "war". He might talk about other things, but I am ashamed to say that these are what I could listen to...
I've got a zest to study here, Washington DC, and felt the need to study more and read more to understand what is going on around me right now! I can hear the sound of breeze, which changing political situation made, at this place, heating the mind of students, who study international affairs or politics!
